The Southwest Georgia Regional Library System will be closed for Thanksgiving on Thursday, November 26, 2015. We will resume normal operating hours on Friday, November 27, 2015. During that time, you can access our e-book and audiobook downloads by visiting our website at www.swgrl.org. Please note that the Decatur library will not have Toddler Time or Legos & Games the week of Thanksgiving!

Beginning Computer Classes will be held at the Decatur County - Gilbert H. Gragg Library on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 through Thursday November 12, 2015 at 10 a.m. Please call the library at 229.248.2665 to reserve your spot for these classes as space is limited, and fill up quickly. There will be an Advanced Microsoft Word class at the Seminole County Public Library on Thursday, Nov. 5 at 10 a.m. To register for this class, contact us at 229-524-2665.

Book Clubs @ Your Library

The First Tuesday Book Club at the Miller County - James W. Merritt, Jr. Memorial Library will meet November 3, 2015 at 10 a.m., and will be discussing The Time Between by Karen White. The book for December is Christmas Train by David Baldacci. To join the First Tuesday Book Club, contact the library at 229-758-3131 for future titles and to place a hold on book club titles . The First Wednesday Book Club meets at the Seminole County Public Library on October 4, 2015 at 10 a.m. The selection for November is The Painter by Peter Heller, and the chosen title for December is The Silent Wife by A. S. A. Harrison. To join the First Wednesday Book Club, contact the library at 229-524-2665.

Staff Spotlight: Arlene Freeman The other half of our amazing SWGLAS team is the Outreach Coordinator, Arlene Freeman, who has been with the library system for about 12 years. You may also have seen Arlene at the front Circulation Desk in the main library. Favorite part of her job: Arlene stated that her favorite part of her job is helping people. Likes to Read: Romance Favorite Food: Pasta! She also enjoys cooking. Favorite Books as a Child: Dr. Seuss. She also enjoyed reading them to her children when they were little. Next time you visit the Decatur County - Gilbert H. Gragg Library, stop in to the SWGLAS office and say hello to Arlene! Breakfast with Santa Registration
|

Breakfast with Santa Registration will begin on November 9, 2015 at the Decatur County - Gilbert H. Gragg Library and the Miller County - James W. Merritt, Jr. Memorial Library. To register your child, call Decatur at 229-248-2665 and Miller at 229-758-3131. Breakfast with Santa will be held at both libraries on December 5, 2015. More details will be released closer to registration.

Legos, Games, and Puzzles!
|
|
Allow your creative side to come out and play with Legos at the Decatur County - Gilbert H. Gragg Library and the Seminole County Public Library every Tuesday at 4 p.m.! Puzzles and board games are also available at the Decatur County - Gilbert H. Gragg Library. Children of all ages are welcome, and parents are encouraged to join in the fun! To join in the fun of International Game Day, which is on November 21, the Decatur library will have additional games available on Tuesday, November 17, 2015. We will have cards and board games for all ages, including adults, and would love to see as many people as possible join us.

Join us for Library Discovery at the Decatur County - Gilbert H. Gragg Library! This program will be aimed at elementary school aged children and will teach them in a fun way how to use their public library. They will learn about the different sections of the library, how to use the card catalog, and all the many resources available to them. The program is aimed at children in grades 3-5, but children in lower grades may participate if they are independent readers. Library Discovery will be held on November 13 @ 2:30 p.m. in the Children's Section of the library! For any questions, contact us at 229-248-2665. Dig into your public library!

Once Upon a Story Time...

Check out local toddler and story times at your library! Decatur County offers Toddler Time every Tuesday and Thursday morning at 10 a.m. in the meeting room. Miller County offers Story Time the 3rd Thursday of every month at 3:30 p.m. A perfect way to end the school day! Seminole County offers Toddler Time every Tuesday morning at 10:30 a.m. Join us for stories, songs, and activities!

With the holiday season fast approaching, many people start thinking of food and menu ideas to bring together their family and friends. For some families, it's familiar territory to jump into recipes that have been handed down through the generations. For others, the idea of having to cook a meal can be daunting and scary.
