Declare your love for your library this February! Love Your Library Month is a celebration of all the things libraries contribute to their communities, and you can play a vital role in your local library's success. Promote: You can easily promote your library by liking us on Facebook (www.facebook.com/SouthwestGaLibrary) or following us on Twitter (www.twitter.com/SWGRL). Share our programs and events through Social Media! You can promote your library by talking about the amazing opportunities we provide to other people in your community. Participate: By attending events and simply using the services your library offers, you help your library show how vital they are. Not only does your library offer books, there is also a wide array of DVDs available for checkout, databases available for research, and children's programs to engage the entire family. Volunteer/Donate: Volunteers can always be used during high program times (such as the Summer Reading Program). If you have a particular skill or knowledge base and would like to share with your community, consider leading a program at the library. If you don't have the time to volunteer, the library is always happy to accept a tax deductible monetary donation or book donations. Advocate: Libraries are always in need of strong advocates to ensure the future of our public libraries. A library's success can hinge on its community's willingness to advocate at a local and statewide level by writing letters and talking to law makers about the value and importance of the library. If you are interested in supporting the library, contact the Southwest Georgia Regional Library System at 229-248-2665.

As a result of the recent PINES upgrade, there some new features that are available. Patrons now have the ability to save their check out and holds history, but this is a service that has to be opted into. This is a great way to keep track of what books and items you've checked out previously. In addition, library staff is now able to send messages directly to your account. There will also be an automated message sent to your e-mail address 30 days before your library card expires, that way you know to bring in your ID during your next visit. For instructions on how to access these services, there is a short, easy to follow video. There is no sound with the video. If you have any questions or problems, you can contact us at 229-248-2665.
