Unlimited Possibilities at Your Library
April is here, and time for National Library Week. Your Southwest Georgia Regional Library System is celebrating National Library Week all month long! National Library Month is a time to highlight the changing role of libraries, librarians, and library workers. Libraries today are more than warehouses for books. Instead, libraries and librarians are change agents within their communities – transforming lives through innovative educational resources and forward-thinking programming. Libraries are doing their part to close the digital divide and level the playing field by providing free access to information and technologies that many in their communities would be hard pressed to find elsewhere. Libraries help to ensure the American dream and promote democracy by providing service to all regardless of race, ethnicity, creed, age, ability, sexual orientation, gender identity or socio-economic status. At the Southwest Georgia Regional Library System, discover the unlimited possibilities including free eBooks, computer access, technology classes, Legos & Games, DVDs, materials for the blind and physically handicapped, and much more. During April, we are having special activities to celebrate National Library Month. The First Tuesday Book Club at the Miller County - James W. Merritt, Jr. Memorial Library will be skyping with author Greer MacAllister and will be discussing her book The Magician's Lie. The Decatur County - Gilbert H. Gragg Library will add puzzles for parents during its Legos & Games programs on Tuesday, and will have a special session of Toddler Time on Thursday, April 2 during Spring Break. The Seminole County Public Library will have special events during April, including craft programs and a new book club for children. Keep reading this edition of The SWGRL Spotlight for more information on the special ways we are celebrating National Library Month.
