Please note that we still have restrictions in place to assist in keeping both patrons and staff healthy. With that in mind, please be sure to wear your mask and practice social distancing when inside the library.
Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteer Cart Projects
As we gear up for summer, there have been more options available on the volunteer cart!
These are typically projects that involve prepping materials for programs. We have had a lot of pieces that need cut out recently. If cutting or material prep isn't your thing, check out the options below!
Book Cleaning
We could really use some book cleaners at this time of year! Any volunteers interested in book cleaning can follow the steps below on getting started. We will provide gloves for you to wear, if you want them, and cleaning products. We just need your time and a little bit of elbow grease. :) Thanks for considering!
Still looking for an artist!
We have a volunteer project that could use the brain and talents of an artist. If you have these strengths and some time, let's talk. Email rcaldwell@bburglibrary.net for more information.
Here's how to get started:
1. Head down to the children's area and let them know you are here to volunteer. They will make sure to give you the binder so you can sign in and get your volunteer badge.
2. Then, our staff will bring out our volunteer cart. Our volunteer cart is where our staff puts all their volunteer needs. These are things like cutting and prep work for programming and we also have cleaning options. Volunteers will often clean our books and toys. Even though we don't have any in-person programming, we are doing Take & Make bags which do require some prep-work so volunteers may see some of that on the cart. We do not have any toys out in the children's area so cleaning options will be limited to books, tables, and shelving. Sometimes other projects will be added to the cart as well. Most projects have a deadline listed and give instructions but you are always welcome to ask our staff for further guidance.
3. Volunteers typically stay for an hour or two and can take the cart to any area of the library to work. When finished, please return the volunteer cart to the children's area and let the staff know so you can sign out and return your volunteer badge.
THANK YOU for being a volunteer and a library advocate!
Volunteer Guide
As a reminder, please check out our volunteer guide again before coming in to volunteer. Please let Robbi know if you have any questions.
