The Volunteer Newsletter will now be sent out quarterly and as needs arise. Every quarter, we'll send you a newsletter with any needs coming up soon and info about always available opportunities. Then, if we have a project or event that pops up and needs volunteers, we'll send a special call out. We don't anticipate many of those so we won't be filling your inbox up with multiple emails but what we do send will have useful information. Thank you for helping us out! - Robbi

Volunteer Cart Projects
Upcoming Options:
Sticker Sorting/Cutting
Always Available Options:
Book Cleaning - We'll show you where to start and have you use a wet wipe to clean the outer covers of books and then dry them with a paper towel before returning them to the shelf. This typically focuses on books in our children's area but books in other areas of the library could definitely use some cleaning, also.
Shelf Dusting - We have a couple different types of dusters as well as microfiber cloths that work well for this task. As of now, the areas that need a good dusting include the children's display shelves (especially the bottom ones!), the middle tops of all our shelving units in children's, and the empty bottoms of all shelving units.
Wall Cleaning - We have Magic Erasers to help with this task! We currently have some crayon and pencil marks that tend to show up on our white walls in children's, our white display units in children's, our Imagination Station in children's, our Everbrite dial covers in children's and scuffs on our Study Room walls. Our Study Rooms are often occupied throughout most of the day but if you'd like to assist with that, specifically, coming in as soon as we open is your best bet to access the most rooms before they're in use.
Special Option for Teens
With the school year underway, we have had an increased interest in volunteering as students earn volunteer hours for groups or to add to their transcript. While you are always welcome to come in and volunteer anytime for any projects on our cart, you may also want to reach out to our teen librarian, Kath, for special teen projects with our Teen Council.
1. Head down to the children's area and let them know you are here to volunteer. They will make sure to give you the volunteer sign-in binder so you can sign in and get your volunteer badge.
2. Then, our staff will bring out the volunteer cart. Our volunteer cart is where staff puts all their volunteer needs. These are things like cutting and prep work for programming and summer reading. We also have cleaning options. Volunteers will often clean our books and toys. Sometimes other projects will be added to the cart as well. Most projects have a deadline listed and give instructions but you are always encouraged to ask our staff for further guidance if needed.
3. Volunteers typically stay for an hour or two and can take the cart to any area of the library to work. When finished, please return the volunteer cart to the children's area and let the staff know so you can sign out and return your volunteer badge.
THANK YOU for being a volunteer and a library advocate!
