The flowers are blooming, the sun is shining, and May has finally arrived! Stop by the library this month to check out our multiple fiction and non-fiction displays honoring Mental Health Awareness Month, Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, and National Get Caught Reading Month.
 
We will also be displaying the works of the Quabbin Art Association on our main floor gallery walls and cases throughout the month. We hope you'll drop by to check them out!

ChairFit & Chair YogaFit Flow Classes

Mondays at 9:30AM - 10:30AM

Join certified instructor Mary Ellen More for alternating weeks of ChairFit and Chair YogaFit Flow classes. The ChairFit class takes pace on and off the chair and incorporates cardio, weights, stretch bands, balls, and balance; please bring a set of free weights.
 
The Chair YogaFit Flow class is designed to be in and out of the chair and alternates strength training with total body stretching and deep breathing; no equipment is necessary for this class.
 
All levels of fitness are welcome! These are drop in classes and no registration is necessary.

Celebrate the joys of a good old game night with board games and snacks! We'll have games on hand like Settlers of Catan, Ticket to Ride, Munchkin, and more - but feel free to bring your own!
 
There will be multiple tables for multiple games, so bring a friend or meet some like-minded gamers at the event. Light refreshments like cookies, cupcakes, and juices will be available.

The Rose: A Pastel Painting Workshop with Greg Maichak
 
Monday, May 22nd at 6:00PM

In this fun two-hour workshop, participants will produce their very own personalized and original pastel based on Georgia O’Keeffe’s Rose. Maichak guides everyone in drawing, blending, and layering. All materials will be supplied (pastels, paper, blending material, etc.) and participants can keep their 12 X 18 painting.
 
This workshop is designed for beginners to advanced participants. It is sponsored by the Agawam Cultural Council and the Agawam Center Library Association.

This month's Library Tech session will feature a lesson in Kanopy - a streaming film service for Agawam cardholders that offers thousands of films, documentaries, and shorts from producers in the U.S. and around the world.

Don't Forget...

The Agawam Public Library is looking for local authors to participate in READLocal, a book signing event to be held on Monday, June 26th, 2023 from 6:30 - 8:00PM. READLocal will be the kick-off event for our annual Adult Summer Reading Program, "Find Your Voice."
 
The event will be held in the Community Room and each author will have their own 6-foot table on which to set up a display and sell books. This event has historically brought in many readers!
 
Interested authors must have published a book for adults and not have previously participated in an author event at the Agawam Library. Please email a book summary and contact information to Wendy McAnanama at wmcananama@agawamlibrary.org by Friday, May 19th, 2023. Space is limited!
 
 
The Friends of the Agawam Public Library has partnered with Flower Power Fundraising to offer a gorgeous assortment of spring flowers to beautify your garden. For every dollar spent, the Friends will receive half! The proceeds will be used to help support the Agawam Public Library by providing them with funds that are not in their general funding.
