Each 2-hour session will focus on a different aspect of genealogical research. Advance registration is required.

This week will focus on how to start with yourself and work backwards by using personal sources, records, and materials, interviewing relatives, and organizing information.

This week will focus on creating your family tree, including primary and secondary sources, identifying errors, and selecting a family tree format. We will also discuss how to use and understand the US, British, Irish, and Canadian census records.

Advanced Record Types

This week will focus on how to locate and use advanced record types, such as religious records, obituaries and cemetery records, immigration and naturalization records, military records and more.

Using the Internet for Research
Sunday, August 19
2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

This week will focus on the successful use of internet resources, including how to structure your searches, using message boards, and finding a balance between traditional and electronic research. We will also discuss what to do when you feel you have “hit a wall” in your research and techniques to help you overcome obstacles.
