Have you always wanted to learn more about your ancestors but don’t know where to start? Join Wayne Andrews for this free series of genealogy workshops! Each 2-hour session will focus on a different aspect of genealogical research. Advance registration is required. Participants are encouraged, but not required, to attend all workshops in the series.

Saturday, August 4 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. This week will focus on how to start with yourself and work backwards by using personal sources, records, and materials, interviewing relatives, and organizing information.

Saturday, August 11 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. This week will focus on creating your family tree, including primary and secondary sources, identifying errors, and selecting a family tree format. We will also discuss how to use and understand the US, British, Irish, and Canadian census records.

Saturday, August 18 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. This week will focus on how to locate and use advanced record types, such as religious records, obituaries and cemetery records, immigration and naturalization records, military records and more.

Sunday, August 19 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. This week will focus on the successful use of internet resources, including how to structure your searches, using message boards, and finding a balance between traditional and electronic research. We will also discuss what to do when you feel you have “hit a wall” in your research and techniques to help you overcome obstacles.
