Sharon Forks Library Construction Update
|
|
The Sharon Forks Library originally opened in 2000 as the county’s second library location. Of the four branches in the library system currently, Sharon Forks is the smallest in terms of square footage. However, it is most certainly the busiest. In fact, the Sharon Forks Library lends more materials than any other library in Georgia, regardless of size. For the fiscal year that ended June 30, 2016, this branch alone had over one million checkouts. The Sharon Forks Library Construction and Renovation Project will nearly double the branch's current size and patrons can expect construction activity to begin in early January. The first phase of construction will be to block off access to the side and back parking lots to build the expansion to the library, create an underground water retention for storm water, and build a new parking lot. A new book return has been placed on the front porch to temporarily replace the drive up automated return. All materials will be accepted through this book return. Because the items will be manually processed by staff, there will be a brief delay before items are removed off patron accounts. We will begin using this book return as soon as access to the back parking lot is blocked. We appreciate your patience and encourage you to sign up for alerts via email or text message.
