"Fall" into Fun at Your Library

It may not feel much like autumn here in our corner of the world, but we’re going to grab a pumpkin-spiced coffee and forge ahead with a season full of fall fun for our patrons. Here’s a peek at what’s in store for those who love creating fall crafts, listening to spooky music, and curling up with a spine-tingling book: From the Sublime to the Spooky Tuesday, October 2 at 6:30 p.m. Sharon Forks Library Part of the Music to Your Ears music appreciation series with Dr. Esther Morgan-Ellis, this program shares sublime pieces by Antonio Vivaldi and Joseph Haydn, as well as music that will give you goosebumps! Leap into Literacy with Biscuit

Have a doggone good time with everybody’s favorite dog, Biscuit! Leap into Literacy with Biscuit Tuesday, October 9 at 5:30 p.m. Cumming Elementary School 540 Dahlonega Street, Cumming, GA Families with infants, toddlers, and preschoolers are invited to enjoy a simple dinner, stories and songs in English and Spanish, crafts, and early literacy activities. Children can also meet Biscuit and take home a free book! Admission is free. The 2018 - 2019 Leap into Literacy program is sponsored by Forsyth County Public Library, Forsyth County Schools, Georgia Highlands Medical Services, and Literacy Forsyth. Leap into Literacy is also supported by a Community Impact Grant from the North Georgia Community Foundation.

RiteBite Diabetes Cooking School Monday, October 22 at 6:00 p.m. Cumming Library Barbara Worley, of the UGA Extension Service, will lead this 4-week cooking class on meal planning and food preparation skills that will reduce calories, control carbohydrates, modify fat, and increase fiber so those affected by diabetes can achieve better blood glucose and blood pressure control. Registration is required. Parents and caregivers of children with Type I or Type II diabetes might also be interested in attending Ms. Worley's presentation on Diabetes and Your Child’s Diet at the Sharon Forks Library on Tuesday, October 16 at 6:30 p.m.
