Coming Soon! Teen Wellness Kits to reserve a kit email kaslolibrary@gmail.com Teen Programming For the past four years we have partnered with KULYN and CBT and NKLCSS to bring programming to teens in the community. We just wrapped up a fun creative programme over zoom. Teens were given a box with a Wreck this Journal, pencil crayons, stickers and snacks and we met over zoom. Using the prompts in the book to destroy/wreck pages in creative and quirky ways:
|
like poking holes through pages, adding photos and defacing them, painting pages with coffee, coloring outside the lines, and more. It was really fun and relaxing. One teen said "This is really liberating, when I am working on my bullet journal I am always worried about being so perfect...." Wreck This Journal "Wreck This Journal, a subversive illustrated book that challenges readers to muster up their best mistake- and mess-making abilities to fill the pages of the book—or destroy them. Discover novel ways to escape the fear of the blank page and fully engage in the creative process. To create is to destroy"

Kootenay Teen Book Club "We read to know we are not alone” C.S Lewis Teens across the Kootenays had the opportunity to talk books and meet the authors in this online bookclub. This has been a unique and wonderful outcome of our
|
current situation. The Kootenay Library Federation and the Nelson Public Library have organized young adult authors to meet with youth and librarians to talk about their books on zoom. It has been a delight to speak directly to the authors and ask questions. In January youth got to meet Gordon Korman who is a prolific writer of juvenille fiction. Mr. Korman told us the story of how he published his first book at the age of 13! This book club will return in September and will open with a big name TBA. Stay tuned this summer for more details. Contact kaslolibrary@gmail.com if you want to be added to the email list.

Read Local Adult Book Club continues for April and May. To register contact the library so we can borrow a copy of the book for you. Discuss the book on zoom with people across the Kootenays and then meet the authors. Support local writers and spread the word.
