The Georgia Download Destination is moving from Overdrive to RBDigital starting February 6. This move will mean all downloadable digital titles (ebooks, audiobooks AND magazines) will be available on the same platform! Here's what you need to know: When? The platform will be live Tuesday, Feb. 6. What does it mean? On Feb. 6, you will need to create an RBDigital account to access ebooks and audiobooks. As we already use RBDigital for digital magazines, you can create your account ahead of time:https://www.rbdigital.com/athensga. The free RBDigital mobile app is available in both the Google Play and Apple stores. Will my device be compatible? Some e-readers (such as the Kindle Paperwhite and Nook Simple Touch) may not work with RBDigital. Please contact RBDigital at 877-77-AUDIO (877-772-8346) for assistance. You can also call us at (706) 613-3650 or stop by the 2nd floor Information Desk if you have any questions about the transition.

The Athens-Clarke County Library offers three opportunities to see Lt. Flipper's Trial in celebration of Black History Month. The play dramatizes the fateful 1881 trial of Lt. Henry O. Flipper. In 1877, Lt. Flipper was the first African-American to graduate from West Point. In 1880, Flipper distinguished himself in the War against Warm Spring Apache Chief Victorio. A year later, 25-year-old Flipper was tried for embezzlement of government funds. He was dismissed from the Army on June 30, 1882. This play dramatizes the 1881 court martial and draws the audience into the controversy about whether Lt. Flipper was treated fairly before, during and after the trial. You won't want to miss this informative presentation, performed by the play’s author, Bob Rogers, a former U.S. Army Captain and combat leader during the Vietnam War in Troop A, 1/10th Cavalry. East Athens Resource Center: Thursday, Feb. 22, 3:30 p.m. Athens-Clarke County Library: Thursday, Feb. 22, 7:00 p.m. Lay Park Resource Center: Friday, Feb. 23, 3:30 p.m.

Have you ever needed a specific and expensive tool for just one job? Investing the money in a tool you will use once, and then put up on a shelf is so frustrating, and for many in our community, economically unattainable.
We need your help to give everyone in our community the tools they need to get their jobs done.
The Athens Regional Library System and LEAD Athens are partnering to create The Athens-Clarke County Tool Library to build a stronger, safer, and more stable community by lending tools, offering informative workshops, and empowering neighbors to maintain and improve their properties.
This service will allow patrons of the library the opportunity to check out a tool for their personal projects just like they would check out a book.
Additionally, in partnership with Athens Technical College, The Athens Clarke County Tool Library will be able to use the tools to teach repair classes and tool safety courses for DIY projects.
We are seeking money to fund the initial tools that would make up this tool library. Donations will go directly to the purchase of tools and to the purchase of a storage shed for the tools, which will be housed at the Baxter Street branch of the Athens Regional Library System.
Any sized donation is welcome, and your donation is tax deductible. Learn more HERE: https://www.gofundme.com/athens-regional-tool-library
