Directors' Note We have been so happy to see so many people taking advantage of curbside pickup service! We have also begun to partner with the Council on Aging to deliver books directly to Kingston seniors. At the same time, we've been planning for opening our doors on a limited basis and hope to announce the details soon. Be sure to check our website in the coming days for the debut of Stories From Kingston – virtual storytimes with volunteers from around the town. Read on for programs and services to see you through the summer. Sia Stewart and Mike Slawson

The Kingston Public Library Foundation is excited to have you join us for another Summer trivia event, this time hosted by The Trivia Brothers! As always, the money raised at this event will go towards supporting programming and services at the Kingston Public Library. You may have heard the KPL staff has been significantly reduced; this is an incredible loss to the Library and our Town. This is why the supporting efforts of the KPLF, such as the recent updates to the Children's Room, continues to be crucial to filling in budget gaps. We're sad that Covid-19 has resulted in our Trivia Night being virtual, but now that means you can stay at home and play in your pajamas!

President Sandy Underhill reports: The Friends of the Library are alive and well, ready to get back to our work at KPL. It's likely that our next event will be our book/bake sale at the Council on Aging in the Spring of 2021. Until then, we miss our patrons and look forward to everyone being together again.

Take flight with the basics of aerodynamics Monday, August 24 6:00-7:00 pm online via Zoom In this Mad Science program, children entering grades 3 to 6 will investigate the four forces that affect flight: lift, thrust, gravity, and drag. You'll get the Zoom login information on the day before the program. You'll need to gather a few things for the activities -- several sheets of paper, scissors, tape, paper clips, and a ruler -- then get ready to soar.

Summer Reading continues through August 15 Children entering K through grade 6 in the fall can still register! You'll get a goodie bucket and your choice of a free book! Your goal is to read 900 minutes by August 15. When you complete your book bingo or 4 activities online, you can choose another free book. Record your reading online through Beanstack, or fill in the paper log in your goodie bucket. When Summer Reading ends, the Kingston Public Library Foundation will make a donation to the Kingston Animal Shelter. It's based on total number of minutes you read, so make sure to log your times! The Imagine Your Story Summer Reading Program is sponsored by the Kingston Public Library, the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners, and the Boston Bruins.
