1000 Things Before Kindergarten
Get your little one ready to learn!

Studies show that children who are read to from birth until Kindergarten are more prepared for school. The idea of 1,000 Things is to add the five basics of early childhood parenting. These basics are:
1. Maximize love, manage stress
2. Talk, sing, and point
3. Count, group, and compare
4. Explore through movement & play
5. Read and discuss stories
How to get started:
 
Register by signing up at your closest branch. You will receive a folder which will include suggestions of activities to complete with your child.
Track your reading and activities. For each book or activity completed, simply color in one of the bubbles on your log.
Accomplish milestones. Each time you complete 100 things, return your log to the Library and receive a free book! You will be given a new activity log for your next 100 things.
Complete the program by reaching 1,000 things and receive a certificate of achievement.
