When will you reopen? It has been nearly a year since we closed our doors and we know many of you are looking forward to when we can welcome you back inside. Our top priority is the health and safety of our staff and community and we have been making many changes to continue providing services with this in mind. We appreciate your understanding and flexibility as we continue to evaluate and adapt.
We are in regular communication with other Dane County libraries as well as Public Health Madison & Dane County to determine the appropriate time and manner to expand in-person services. Most area libraries are currently offering the same service level we are.
We are also following guidance from the Village of McFarland, the Department of Public Instruction, and the CDC, which includes wearing masks, wearing gloves/sanitizing hands when handling materials, physical distancing, quarantining returned materials, disinfecting surfaces, and minimizing the number of staff in the building at one time.
We have been installing new equipment and technology to provide in-person services as safely as possible once we resume, including:
More self-check stations
Wireless and self-pay printing
Remote computer assistance
Improved air filtration including needlepoint bipolar ionization technology
Even though our building was closed for much of 2020, we've still been working hard to bring you materials, programs, and resources. Check out the stats:
