Neighbors Helping Neighbors: Weymouth Food Pantry Update The Weymouth Food Pantry is continuing to operate their full schedule of pop-up pantries in locations around town. Anyone struggling to afford groceries qualifies. Seniors or those with compromised immune systems can also call Weymouth Elder Services at 781-682-6140 to arrange delivery. A food drive to benefit the Weymouth Food Pantry will be held this Saturday, May 9th from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Weymouth DPW Building, 120 Winter Street. Maximum social distancing will be observed. This drive is being hosted by the Norfolk County Central Labor Council and United Way of Massachusetts Bay. The pantry particularly needs: tuna, peanut butter, rice, canned vegetables, canned fruit, and shelf-stable milk. If you find yourself able, please consider making a monetary donation to the Weymouth Food Pantry.

New Department of Health PSA on How to Safely Cover Your Face Outside of the Home The Massachusetts Department of Health has released a new public service announcement video that outlines how to safely cover your face in accordance with the governor's order that goes into effect today. Please remember that cloth masks should not be worn by young children under the age of two, persons with difficulty breathing, or those who are unconscious, incapacitated or otherwise unable to remove the mask without assistance. Social distancing and staying at home are the best ways to prevent the spread of COVID-19. But if you must go out, be sure to cover your face.

Take a Breath May is Mental Health Awareness month and now more than ever it's crucial to pay attention to your mental well-being. And beginning tomorrow the Weymouth Public Libraries will be going live on YouTube each Thursday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. with a series we are calling "Mindful Moments". For 10-15 minutes each week we'll be bringing you guided meditation, gentle stretching, calming music or a thought exercise. Take a few minutes out of the day for your well-being. You can watch us live or save it for later--all the recordings will be available on our YouTube page.

The WikiGame We apologize in advance: what we are about to share will make you VERY unproductive for the next hour. Have you ever found yourself sucked into a Wikipedia rabbit hole? You go to look up one thing and before you know it you're reading 6,000 words on the Hindenburg (today is the anniversary of that event, by the way.) If that sounds at all familiar, The WikiGame is definitely for you. This online game challenges you to connect two seemingly unrelated topics by starting on the first topic's Wikipedia page and somehow arriving at the second topic's page. For example: Stephen Hawking and the Bubonic Plague--how might those two topics be related? And did we mention you have two minutes in which to accomplish this? It is HARD. But deeply addictive.... and educational! Sort of.
