SUMMER READING KICKOFF WITH DAVID BATES Thursday, July 6 @ 11:00 am Entitled “Raising Our Voices”, the program will include songs and stories about empowerment and the imagination from a variety of cultural traditions. Hear about a brave parrot, how coyote got his howl, and be prepared to sing, move and clap your hands. The program will include plenty of sing-alongs, as well as a short lesson in how to play the spoons, and an appearance by an Irish dancing wooden dog named Bingo. After the performance, children who wish to participate in the summer reading program will be given reading logs to record their reading time and earn rewards throughout the summer. This program is supported in part by a grant from the Hanover Cultural Council, a local agency, which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.

DRUM TO THE BEAT WITH OTHA DAY Monday, July 17 @ 2:00 pm A Drum Circle is a highly interactive event where people play drums and percussion instruments together to create in-the-moment music. With playful and accessible rhythm activities, games, traditional ensemble pieces, songs and most importantly improvisation, DRUM TO THE BEAT! drum circle supports and encourages creativity through the experience of rhythm and sound.
