Dresses from the Past: on display during April
Step into the original foyer of the John Curtis Library, and step into the past! The Hanover Historical Society will have gowns from the 19th Century (some of it actually worn right here in Hanover!) on display during the month of April. Along with the dresses, there will be period accessories in the display cabinets on the second floor. And that's not the only display -- don't miss the acrylic paintings of Robyn Thompson Duong in the large meeting room.

Peep Diorama Contest

What's a Peep Diorama? You simply use the iconic spring candy, a shoebox, and your imagination to represent a book or TV/movie! You can Google 'peep diorama' or check out our staff examples for inspiration. We'll award prizes for the best entries in three divisions: Children's, Teen, and Adult on April 30th. So show us your creativity -- we'll even provide the peeps (while supplies last, of course)!

Science Fiction Festival

Do you like science fiction, fantasy, comic books? Then this is the event for you! This "mini-con" will have a costume contest, activities, movies, local vendors. come on in and make a pool-noodle lightsaber or a custom button! No registration needed!

Through You to Me Puppets Tuesday, April 18 at 2:00 pm Leigh Baltzer will bring her puppet friend Newton and others to read stories to children. Afterward, there will be time for some free play with puppets. No registration is required.

Pajama Storytime Tuesday, April 18 at 7:00 pm Put on your jammies, grab a favorite stuffed animal, and join us for a half-hour of bedtime stories! Guaranteed to make kids sleepy.

Playful Engineers Wednesday, April 19 at 10:00 am This is a STEM focused workshop in which participants design, build, test, and play with chain reactions and creative contraptions, like Rube Goldberg Machines, paper constructions, domino towers, exploding popsicle-stick snakes, and other awesome engineering explorations. Viva l'anarchia: The Sacco & Vanzetti Case Monday, April 3 at 6:00 pm Sacco & Vanzetti were Italian immigrant anarchists who were accused of murdering a guard and a paymaster during the April 15, 1920, armed robbery of the Slater and Morrill Shoe Company in Braintree. Seven years later, they were executed in the electric chair at Charlestown State Prison. One of the most famous cases in Massachusetts history - and it started in Braintree!!
