Construction Progress

Adult Wing
From the Director
Dear friends,

As you can see from the above photos, construction of the new library is moving forward and the building is taking shape. The latest construction progress report with additional photos from Oudens Ello Architects is available here. Due to the unforeseen construction shutdown in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, completion is now expected some time this winter.

In the meantime, NPL's staff is working hard to serve the community from our temporary location at 1207 Washington Street in Hanover. Contact-free curbside pickup has been very popular since we began offering this service on June 15th. Interlibrary delivery is gradually resuming and patrons will soon be able to request items from other libraries in addition to Norwell. NPL also provides a contact-free "Books to Go" service for Norwell residents who are unable to come to the library. In-person service is not yet available but staff can be reached by phone and email.

We are pleased to offer some great virtual programs this summer, including book discussions, story times, and much more. The 2020 "Imagine Your Story" Summer Reading Program for children and teens is off to a great start and registration is ongoing. Highlights of upcoming programs and library resources are provided below. For more information and updates, visit norwellpubliclibrary.org.

To protect everyone from COVID-19 transmission, NPL staff is following safety protocols in accordance with state and local guidelines. Our facility is cleaned each morning and shared surfaces are cleaned more frequently. All employees are wearing face masks, frequently using hand sanitizer, and social distancing. In addition, returns are placed in quarantine for 72 hours before processing. Thank you for your patience as we continue our efforts to safely increase library services.

Wishing you a healthy summer and the joy of reading,

Judy McConarty, Director
