Library Operations Update
New Regular Hours for
Main Library & Manor Branch 
The new hours for the Main Library and Manor Branch are: 
 
Monday-Thursday: 10:00am-8:00pm 
Friday & Saturday: 10:00am-5:00pm 
Sunday: 10:00am-2:00pm 
 

Library closed March 31 for
Cesar Chavez day 
 
Please note that all San Leandro Public Libraries will be closed on Friday, March 31 in honor of Cesar Chavez day. Library book drops will remain accessible and regular library hours will resume on Saturday, April 1. 

Lawyers in the Library is back!
 
The popular Lawyers in the Library program is back virtually! Lawyers in the Library is a free legal information and referral program provided in partnership with Legal Access Alameda. Anyone can book a 15-minute one-on-one appointment with a lawyer. The lawyer can provide information on most legal questions. All appointments are confidential. This program is only offered over the phone.  
 
We offer over-the-phone appointments on the 1st Wednesday of the Month. Checkout our website for more information on the program.

Tech Tutorials
 
Want to learn more about technology? Join us at the San Leandro Main Library (300 Estudillo Ave.) for our Monthly Tech Tutorial series. This series will run from March until June with a monthly technology topic to learn about in a small group on the 4th Tuesday of the month. Check the Library Events Calendar for upcoming dates, times, and subjects.

Art work will be on display from March 4 – April 1 at the Main Library in the display area across from the Information Desk.

Designed for kids ages 3-5, Kindergarten Readiness Backpacks offer toys, books and learning aids in the areas of Literacy, Math, Science and Social Skills. Borrow these at-home lesson plans to help your child get ready for Kindergarten!  
Art Is Education Month
March is Art IS Education month! Enjoy artwork from SLUSD elementary school students on display at the
Main Library and Manor Branch all month long! 
 

Bookmark Design Contest 
Thru March 22, 2023 
 
Design a bookmark in honor of Art is Education Month. Three winners will be chosen to receive a prize and have their design mass printed and made available to San Leandro Public Library & Museum patrons. Pick up a submission form and submit your design to the Main or Manor Branch Library by March 22 to be entered for a chance to win.

Celebrate Nowruz Festival

At this Nowruz Celebration, watch Beshkan Dance perform traditional dances, listen to Persian New Year stories and then learn a dance. All ages welcome.

Celebrate Cesar Chavez day with our film screening of Dolores, a documentary on Dolores Huerta, Cesar Chavez's colleague and co-founder of the United Farm Worker's Union.

Celebrate St. Patrick's Day
Tuesday, March 14, 6:30pm  
Manor Branch Library  
 
Join us for a special St. Patrick’s Day Performance a few days early.  Dancers from Rohan Murphy Irish Dance Academy will perform a variety of Irish dances to celebrate the culture of Ireland.  
Come join the fun.  All ages are welcome
 
In-person events are subject to change based on current public health guidelines. 
We strongly recommend all visitors wear masks.

Project Literacy
Adults! Improve you speaking and listening skills by attending our ESL conversation groups. The ESL conversation groups are in-person and are led by a trained literacy staff member. Learn in a fun and supportive environment with other adults who are also learning English. To register, call 510-577-3971 or register at sanleandro.libcal.com and look for "ESL Conversation Club". 
Basic Level: Tuesdays at 10:30am-12pm 
Intermediate Level: Saturdays at 10:30am-12pm 
Project Literacy Volunteer Tutor Training 
Help adults in your community learn to read, write, and speak in English by signing up for Project Literacy's Volunteer Tutor Training. Call Project Literacy at 510-577-3944 or fill out our Volunteer Tutor Inquiry form on the Project Literacy website and a staff member will reach out to you with tutor training information and training dates.  
 
Our next round of tutor trainings are as follows: 
-Part 1: Wednesday March 14th at 6pm-8pm  
-Part 2: Wednesday March 21st at 6pm-8pm
