In the first part of the 20th century, postcards were all the rage in America. The Erie Canal Museum is home to many of these small pieces of history. This exhibit showcases postcards with beautiful images of New York Canal sites, as well as those that tell fascinating stories and impressions of the Canal. Lecture: Sunday, February 9 at 2pmThe Erie Canal Museum's Curator of Collections & Exhibitions, Ashley Maready, will discuss the growth in use of postcards, or “postals,” in our country, how they came to be one of our most widely used means of communication for several years, and how postcards helped to capture and preserve practically every aspect of the Erie Canal.
