CULTURES OF OUR COMMUNITY Sunday, November 2 from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm The Village of Streamwood Community Relations Commission will be hosting its annual diversity event that will consist of live performances, each representing a different culture. Come learn about the different cultures here in Streamwood. Snacks and beverages from various cultures will be provided. Hosted by Poplar Creek Public Library. No registration necessary--just drop in anytime during the event!

Crafts from around the world will also be set up throughout the library. Drop in, while supplies last, to make some free crafts that represent many of the cultures found in your community! All ages are welcome on Sunday, November 2 from 1:00 - 4:00 pm.

NANOWRIMO (National Novel Writing Month) Tuesdays, November 5, 12, 19, and 26 from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm Challenge yourself to write 50,000 words in one month! To learn more about NaNoWriMo visit nanowrimo.org, create a user name, and get ready for a hard, but rewarding experience! Join us to write at the library with others and get help and encouragement from one another!

DROP IN CRAFT (ADULTS) Tuesday, November 5 at 7:00 pm Wednesday, November 13 at 2:00 pm (Repeat Class) It’s turkey time! Create a cute turkey door hanger using some wood and scrapbook paper to greet all of your Thanksgiving guests. No Registration but sign-up at the door. Supplies are limited. Ages 18+.

MOCK SAT Saturday, November 9 from Noon - 3:30 pm Teens, prepare for the SAT by taking a practice test in an environment similar to what it will be on testing day. We will set up a time for you to go over your results the following week with someone from Sylvan Learning. For 9th grade & up. Space is limited, so registration is a must! Follow up for results is November 14 in Rooms X & Y.

SENIOR CENTER BOOK DISCUSSION Thursday, November 14 from 10:15 am - 11:30 am The Poplar Creek Public Library District sponsors a book discussion group at Hanover Township Senior Center, located at 240 S. UNDERSTANDING DEMENTIA Thursday, November 14 from 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm Join the Alzheimer's Association for this look at how to identify common behavioral triggers, decode behavioral messages, and calm a person who is experiencing common behavior challenges due to dementia. Registration is encouraged, but walk-ins are welcome!
