Voting will be for the election of one library trustee and to adopt the library budget for the period from July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2020. Trustee nominating petitions are available at the Library and must be filed by March 4, 2019 by 5 pm.

We’re excited to announce you can now schedule reservations for items in our Library of Things! Some of these items include board games, lawn games, musical instruments and devices such as Wifi hotspots, digital cameras and a VCR to DVD recorder. This new system allows you to see when items are available, and reserve items for the exact date you want them. Hauppauge Library cardholders can reserve items 60 days in advance. Five (5) items can be reserved per person at a time. Click on the "Library of Things" link in the Reserve menu on our website to make your reservation.

All amateur photographers are invited to submit up to 5 photos for our juried photography contest. Entry forms and guidelines are available at the library and on the website. Submissions are due by 5PM on Sunday, March 31. Winners will be announced at the contest gala on Monday, April 29 at 7pm. Participants and their families are invited to attend. All photo entries will be displayed in the library after the gala.

PROJECT PROM Every year, thousands of students struggle to afford the expenses of prom, so a collective of Suffolk County libraries are stepping up to help! Girls and guys who are attending their junior or senior prom are invited to come to the Suffolk Cooperative Library System to choose FREE prom dresses, suits, shoes and accessories that were donated by Suffolk County community members. Browse the racks and take one home. The event will take place on Saturday, May 11th from 11AM to 3PM @ SCLS, 627 Sunrise Highway, Bellport, NY 11713. If you’re not in need, but you would like to donate, please drop dresses, suits, ties, shoes, bags and accessories off at the Hauppauge Public Library from March 1st- April 28th. Please abide by the guidelines: items should be clean, modern, and only gently loved. We will take care of delivering the items to the event location for others to choose from.

Saturday, April 13, 10:00am-3:00pm Authors Unlimited 2019 will be taking place at St. Joseph’s College in Patchogue. Teens can earn 5 hours of community service credit for attending this event, which celebrates reading by connecting teens and authors. It's a free program where teens and tweens get preferred seating! Attendees will get the chance to meet dynamic authors of young adult literature, first at an author panel and then in smaller breakout sessions afterward. Books will be available for purchase with an opportunity to have them signed at the end of the day. (Gr. 5-8 ONLY) Monday, May 13, 6:00–7:00pm Battle of the Books (a reading trivia program for middle-schoolers) is coming soon! This summer, each participant will be asked to read eight selected titles and compete against other readers for a chance to represent Hauppauge in a county-wide trivia contest in August.
