Cally tales : Cally's adventures and those of her friends
by Sally Humphries
In CALLY TALES, Cally writes not only about herself but about thirteen of her closest friends, like Gracie and Jakey, the kittens who were miffed with Baby Zeke; Herbie, who took a spin in the dryer; Max, who "did in" the Uppity Chipmunk; Oliver who did a study on cat ears; Scooter who knew more about babies than the doctor; Sebastian, the diabetic cat, who did what he had to do; Deena and Bones and Boo who were scared witless by stairs; Pippin and Elsa, the dynamic duo; and of course, Precious, the Senior Cat Adviser to The World At Large. Cally tells it all. And the Widow who adopted her wrote down everything she said - well, almost everything.

Chasing Winter : a novel of suspense
by Melinda Crocker
Winter Pappas was not looking for love when rich and incredibly charming Carson Alexander, III, walked into her life. Once vows were spoken, everything changed. Isolation and abuse chipped away at her spirit, until Winter no longer recognized herself. She became an expert at keeping secrets, but to know all of Carson's secrets was dangerous. Carson demanded loyalty above all else. To betray him was a death sentence. To the world, they were a storybook couple, living a dream life. Accusations of murder and cruelty were preposterous. When Winter found her voice and a prosecutor who would listen to her story, she thought her troubles were over, until he dropped dead at Carsons trial.

Threads: Before and Beyond Jesus's Birth : A Synthesis of Scriptures
by Debra Ann Carter
This presentation of the birth of Jesus Christ reveals Jesus's existence from Scriptures as a "moving" picture of His life from first mention through early childhood, a present-day revelation of Jesus's birth! Using primarily Scriptures, the story unfolds to reveal a bigger picture than is usually presented in the traditional telling of Jesus's birth. Prophecies from millennia past, the words of Jesus, and of the Holy Scriptures are woven together. As with a tapestry, a fuller view of God's plan and purpose for the birth of Jesus is revealed.

Unexpected danger
by Lisa E. Pugh
Who knew a new friendship could be so dangerous? Looking for peace and quiet, Margaret Taylor moves to a small Oxfordshire village to write about the Great War. She believes the idyllic countryside and picturesque hamlet would be the perfect contrast to the noise and distractions of Jazz-age London. Then one afternoon, she receives an unexpected invitation from a mysterious nobleman. Christopher Tobias, forty-fifth Earl of Yawron, hasn't left the grounds of his family's estate since an accident that left him disfigured many years ago. Everything changes when he notices a young woman standing outside his gates staring curiously at his mansion. Intrigued, he takes a chance he never thought he would. Margaret and Christopher must face decisions that will change their lives forever. As their relationship grows, Christopher's past casts a dark shadow. The crags of Old Rag
by G. Mason
The Crags of Old Rag picks up the story of mountain man Rob Nickerson facing life's uncertainties at the end of the second book, The Call of the Whip-poor-will. The story resumes in 1940 with Rob and Charlie Fisk sitting dejectedly on the store porch, wondering how to find paying work, and Rob yearning to be back with Sally, his paramour who works at Skyland, the mountaintop resort. There on the porch, Rob meets young Myron Parsten, who will later loom large in Rob's final two decades. Rob and Charlie, after a depressing hike up through abandoned homesteads in the new national park, find former Skyland owner, George Pollock, who recruits them to stage a thrilling moonshine & snake handling show for tourists. WWII shuts down the resort, reducing Rob and Sally's affair to one of letters, until a clever scheme by Rob's brother brings newly-widowed Sally to live with separated-but-still-married Rob. Eventually, the passing of everyone close to Rob leaves the old man alone with his dogs to confront the modern world that comes swirling in around his mountain home.

Frog Tongues : And Other Recollections of an Old Patriarch
by Michael Toia
Frog Tongues and Other Recollections of an Old Patriarch by Michael Toia is an engaging memoir. From time to time the author shared some of his most memorable and humorous anecdotes with his daughters when they were growing up. Once they reached adulthood and moved away, they were missing this connection with their father and suggested he set them down on paper, not only for them, but for future generations. Their request was the catalyst for this book. This is a collection of independent readings containing a few short tales with anecdotes taken from his life experiences... some humorous, some thoughtful, some instructive, and some of love. While you may be able to identify with some of these remembrances, there are quite a few that will definitely surprise and delight you, so relax and enjoy.

Jumping Off the Devil's Shovel
by Renate V. K. Ruzich
In early January of 1945, the horror of the Eastern Front inched ever closer to the estate of Stollen, East Prussia. The regional governor refused to allow soldiers and civilians to evacuate as the Soviet Army approached, and orders were given to "shoot on sight" those found fleeing the approaching terror. It was not until January 22 that evacuation was allowed. Renate von Kuenheim and her brother Gert held hands as they stood in the barns of their ancestral home in Stollen. The thunder of artillery shells echoed in the distance, and fear gave way to resignation. Calmly, they discussed the best ways to die, a common topic among those who had heard the horror stories of the refugees from the east. Their father had been drafted into the army in 1944 and was out there to the east somewhere - alive or dead, they did not know. Their fate was now in the hands of a stepmother who despised them.

Now, it's time for revenge. With the help of an unorthodox group of good guys, she makes a plan to hunt down coldhearted Andy and get back the money he stole from her. The trail leads this team of professionals--and some not so professional--from western Canada to Virginia, to the Midwest, and then back north to eastern Canada.
