Friends,

It happened. We made it to 2021.

Much to our chagrin, switching out our calendars did not take away COVID-19. But with the vaccine distribution underway, we feel far more positive. We have a fresh coat of paint in the Library, new virtual programming in the works that will continue for as long as we need it to, and we are confident the Library can help us all through a less than ideal start to 2021 as the pandemic continues.

We switched to curbside-only service while painting was in progress, but COVID cases  continue to climb. To ensure everyone’s safety, we’ve made the hard decision to stay "curbside-only" for a while longer, and are not open for in-person computer or browsing appointments at this time.

We are also adjusting our curbside pickup process starting Tuesday, January 5th, 2021. (How nice it is to type out that year!). Instead of driving through the parking lot, we ask that you park your car and enter the Library lobby, one person at a time, with masks on.

We continue to follow strict disinfection protocols, but if you are unable or unwilling to enter the lobby, please call us and we can arrange to put your books in a marked bag on a table outside of the front door at a pre-scheduled time.

As always, we want to do the best we can to serve you. Send us an email at info@yorkpubliclibrary.org or call 207-363-2818 to let us know what we can do to help you in 2021!

Happy New Year from all of us at York Public Library!

VIRTUAL Trivia Night with Matt Howell
Thursday, January 28 @ 7:00 PM
Online

We had A BLAST at December's Virtual Trivia Night thanks to the hilarious, incomparable Matt Howell. We've decided to make it a thing. Every month on the 4th Thursday of the month, prepare to laugh… and for your competitive side to rear its ugly head!  From the comfort of home, compete individually or form a team with members of your household and get those fingers ready: the faster you click, the more points you’ll be awarded.

THE PRIZE: It will be hard to top the toilet paper ornament that was part of last month's Trivia prize, but  It’s beautiful. It’s festive. And it will remind you of 2020 for many holiday seasons to come (pictured to the right). Our friends at York Beach Beer Company and SoMe Brewing have also donated FREE flights of beer to the Trivia Night winner with the most points (of course, the individual must be 21 or older).

This is an online event held via ZOOM. Learn more about Trivia Night or REGISTER HERE.

This month's READ WOKE: Immigration

This month, we're reading books focusing on immigration. To find a great read, peruse the Challenge resources on Beanstack and check out YPL's book lists too. Read at your own pace and take on the monthly challenges in any order you like. We welcome the participation of all ages, and we encourage you to discuss the books you read with those around you, including us! Share your thoughts with us at info@yorkpubliclibrary.org.
Book Club Bonanza

Lately we've had an uptick in requests for a YPL book club. We love to read, and we love to talk about books, so we're planning to begin one or more book clubs starting in the coming weeks. Why not welcome 2021 with a renewed focus on reading! Fill out our survey to help us decide what kind of book groups we should plan.
