Book BuzzApril 2 is World Austism Awareness Day and April is National Autism Awareness Month. There a number of wonderful books out there in the world that feature characters on the autism spectrum- books like House Rules by Jodi Picoult, and The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion. However, a book recently came across my radar and I have been talking it up to everyone: The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang. 30-year-old math genius Stella wants her love life to be as fulfilling as her career but she needs help navigating the dating world and hires a handsome escort to teach her all she needs to know. The Kiss Quotient is romance novel that not only features a main character on the autism spectrum but is written by an author on the autism spectrum. What I loved most was that while it explains the challenges Stella faces as person on the spectrum it also highlights what she loves about the unique way her brain works. This was such a fun read and I highly recommend it. Elise LaForge is the Reader Services Librarian and adult fiction buyer at the Attleboro Public Library. If you’re ever stuck on what to read next Elise can help you out with a custom recommendation. You can reach her at elaforge@sailsinc.org.
