Neighbors in Dialogue 4: Community Conversation Wednesday, December 2, 6-8pm Our discussion topic for December will be representation and cultural appropriation in the media. Our format of small group discussions led by trained facilitators ensures that everyone has their voice heard. Registration is required and ends one day before the event. The Zoom link will be emailed to registered participants the morning of the event.

Library Envelope Project Progress Every day brings changes to the library building, some are visible and others are not. The cast iron balconies and lamp posts have been sent offsite to be cleaned and repaired. Scaffolding for masonry work has been installed, and we anticipate roof work to start very soon. The library will remain open during construction unless we close to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Take & Make Craft Kit: 3-7 year olds starting Monday, December 7Make a winter wreath! Print directions are provided in the craft kit and a video tutorial is available on the library's YouTube page. Registration for supplies is required for each craft you would like to make, limited quantities are available. Once your registration has been confirmed, library staff will work with participants to set up a pick up time.

Take & Make Craft Kit: 3rd-12th grade starting Monday, December 14 Make a book page bauble! Kits will include the supplies to make a decorative ornament. Use it for the Christmas tree or a fun decoration for any space at home! Supplies include, book page strips, curling ribbon, and a plastic bauble. Adult supervison may be required. Registration is required and limited quantities are available.

15 Minute Family STEAM Activity: Growing Crystals starting Monday, Dec. 21 Learn to make two different supersaturated solutions to create beautiful crystal winter decorations. This experiment is geared toward families with kids ages 3 & up. Register to pick up a kit that includes instructions and then view a video tutorial on the library's YouTube page. Virtual Family Trivia Wednesday, December 30, 6-7pmJoin us for low-key trivia! Participants will write their answers on paper and share with the group when prompted, paper and marker will be needed to participate. Registration is required to obtain the meeting link. Please register for each session you wish to attend.

Virtual English Conversation Circle Wednesday, December 2 @ 6pm Wednesday, December 16 @ 6pm Practice speaking English with other adult English learners. Speakers of all languages, and all English levels are welcome to attend. This discussion will be held virtually via Zoom. A meeting link will be e-mailed to you after you have registered.

Virtual Women's Journaling Saturday, December 5 @ 10am Join English teacher and International Women’s Writing Guild member, Pavlina Gatikova, for a 90 minute journaling session via Zoom. Attendees will explore the calming nature of journaling, as well as the benefits it has on one’s mental well-being, with prompts and group discussion. A Zoom link will be e-mailed to you, once you have registered.

Yarn Lovers Virtual Support Group Monday, December 7 @ 9:30am Monday, December 21 @ 9:30am Are you a crafty person in search of like-minded crafty folks? Join our Zoom Meeting- we'll be crafting, chatting, and showing off our recent projects. Register to be sent the link.

Virtual Book GroupsMany of our book groups are meeting virtually this winter. Meetings are listed in the online event calendar and all meetings are open to newcomers. Titles are available through curbside pickup or online with Libby or hoopla. Registration is required in order to receive a link to the meetings. Check out our Book Group page for more info.

Video Game CollectionsIn addition to Wii, Playstation, and Xbox, the library offers Nintendo Switch games for kids, teens and adults. There is a limit of 3 video games per person. For a two week check out, you can try out any game you're thinking of putting on your Holiday wish list. The library also welcomes your requests for new games to add to the collection.

Library of ThingsIn addition to the usual books, movies, magazines, and music, the library also carries more unusual things like ukuleles, hotspots, totebags, and for teachers, robots! Puzzles and board games have been very popular during the pandemic and we expect even more to go out this winter. Each collection follows a unique set of borrowing guidelines and all require a library card. Want to know more? Call or email the library.

Isabella Stewart Gardner MuseumOne of the many institutions in the library's Museum Pass program, the Gardner Museum is currently taking online reservations for visits. Everyone named Isabella receives free lifetime admission to the ISGM. Not named Isabella? The library pass admits up to four adults for $5 each. (Children under 18 are free.)
