Library Clerk News

What's Happening at GCLD

Thank you for accepting the new position, Temporary Library Clerk (TLC) with GCLD.  Each month, about this time of the month, we'll send you an update of new resources, changes in resources, and other miscellaneous information in an effort to keep you in the loop as you serve patrons.

In response to our community needs assessment completed in 2020, we are operating on a new strategic plan that focuses on diverse collection and services, increased access, and promotes the library as an essential community service.  We've expanded our community connections, collaborating on different outreach events and resource sharing and are working to expand our well recieved early childhood and school age services to teens and adults.

We're currently working to build our capacity.  We've just hired Chris Newell, who reached out to you yesterday, as our director of Public Services.  She's the supervisor of our branch manager and oversees the services we provide to the patrons and community of GCLD. If you know someone looking for a part-time position or temporary position, we're on the hunt for additional library clerks, both for set schedules and temporary.  Candidates need to be able to provide positive customer service, be tech savvy, attentive to details, and have flexibility in their schedule.

Looking forward to this year and all the opportunities available to us. Thank you for joining us on this awful big adventure!

Polly Gallagher
Executive Director

Changes with RBDigital & Libby

January 31, RBDigital will no longer be available to GCLD patrons (and those in the Marmot Network).  But alas, Libby is expanding.  Sometime in February, you will be able to not just choose eBook or eAudiobook but will also have magazines as an option.  This means patrons can access digital magazines through Libby or Flipster.
Wall Street Journal

The Wall Street Journal will be added to the collection in the next couple weeks.  This is in response to the heavy use of our online newspapers including the New York Times, Denver Post, and the 1,000s available through NewsBank.
