After careful consideration, Grand County Library District (GCLD) has made the decision to temporarily close all facilities to the public beginning Monday, March 16. We will reevaluate on Monday, April 6.
While our physical facilities are closed to the public, we are continuing services through alternate means.
Have an item on the hold shelf?
Branch staff are sending all items already on hold to Granby Library. They will be available for pick up at the drive thru window on Friday, March 20 from 4-6:30 p.m. or Saturday, March 21 from 9 a.m.-noon.
Currently, patrons can no longer place holds on physical items. As more and more libraries are closing, the ability to obtain materials has gone. This service will be reactivated when the library reopens.
Have an item checked out?
No worries. Please hang on to those items until the library reopens rather than return and overrun our book drops. We appreciate your help keeping our wonderful librarians healthy and preventing damage to our materials. All items’ return dates have been extended.
What am I going to do without my books? My movies?
We’re here for you. Many library resources are available at www.gcld.org including eBooks, video streaming, research, classes, and activities. Go to eBooks & Learning Tools for access. You will need your library card to login and use resources.
I don’t have internet access.
All GCLD facilities have expanded our Wi-Fi to be available 24 hours per day within one block of the branch. Just remember, keep 6 feet away from others or access from your car. Books and magazines can be downloaded and movies are only available through streaming via Kanopy.
But my library card expired!
It’s easy. Just email your library card number, name, email, phone number, and mailing address to firstname.lastname@example.org.
If your neighbor needs a card, let them know they can get a temporary card while the physical branches are closed. Simply tell them to email email@example.com with first and last name, email, phone number, and zip code, and we’ll get them a card number.
I’ve never used a digital resource from the library. Who’s going to help me access the information?
We are. We’re still here for you. Call us. We’re planning to have someone in the branch available for phone calls starting Monday, March 23 based on the following schedule:

My child really misses Storytime!
Starting March 23, we will begin offering Digital Storytime online via Zoom. Please check the Program calendar at www.gcld.org next week for information and access. We look forward to interacting with you and your child!
What about me? What about my school age child?
We’re working on that, too. Email firstname.lastname@example.org if you have ideas for digital interaction. We’re all looking for digital connection as we’re asked to practice social distancing. See the hours above if you’d just like to say hello.
Looking for resource help?
Call our librarians during the times above. We’re working with Rural Health Network to help share resources and agency contact info for those needing some support.
GCLD continues to monitor the situation to determine when the libraries can reopen and programming, events, and meeting space use can resume. We will provide updates with information as it comes. For the most up-to-date information, visit our website at www.gcd.org/covid-19-info.
