Kids in grades K-5 are invited to virtually meet local author Kelly Starling Lyons. Ms. Lyons will talk about writing the story only you can tell, share her writing journey, read from a couple of books and offer writing tips. Kids will be able to ask questions in a Q & A session.
Kelly Starling Lyons is an award-winning author whose 17 titles for children span easy readers, picture books, chapter books, fiction, nonfiction, and series. Winter is here, and Chatham Community Library is thrilled to offer its virtual Winter Reading Program “Ten to Try” from December 1, 2020 to January 15, 2021.
Ten to Try is a challenge to encourage community members to read a book in each of 10 categories, keep track of their reading, and share their favorite discoveries with the library and fellow readers. Participants will be entered in a prize drawing when they have read a book in at least 5 of the 10 listed categories.
There is a challenge for children ages 2-8, and one for tweens and teens ages 9+. Both challenges can be found at the library’s Beanstack site. Readers who have used Beanstack before may log in to find the right challenge for them. Those who are new to Beanstack may create an account and get started. Readers can log their activities in the appropriate challenge, and the library staff keep track of the rest.
