    Staff Pick

This month's pick comes from one of our newest staff members, Teresa, who recommends The Stationery Shop by Marjan Kamali. Set in 1953 Tehran against the backdrop of the Iranian Coup, this novel tells the story of a young couple who meet at a stationery shop and fall in love. They decide to get married but are separated when the violence of the coup erupts shortly before their wedding. 60 years later, they are reunited by chance and must piece together what happened that fateful day and the time in between. The Stationery Shop is a good choice for fans of historical fiction, family stories, diverse reads, and for those who don't mind reading with a tissue in hand.

    Meet Our Collections
Have you heard of our Library of Things? This new collection of non-traditional library items (sponsored by the Friends of the Pembroke Public Library) was created to complement PPL’s mission to facilitate lifelong learning, spark imagination, and connect with the community. This month we’ll explore the telescope!

When you check out the telescope (a one week loan), you also get a pocket constellation guide and an LED headlamp for night vision. The November night sky will feature the Taurids meteor shower (early November), a full moon (Nov. 12th), and the Leonids meteor shower (peaking Nov. 16th-17th).
