Looking for a new book for your commute? One of our patrons suggests The American Spirit: Who We Are and What We Stand For by David McCullough! The book is a collection of 15 speeches given by the famed American historian McCullough at graduations, historical societies, and before Congress and the White House. All inspiring and positive, the speeches mix McCullough's passion for history, both national and local, and his belief in American curiosity, goodwill, and humanity. The audiobook is great for a commute, since each speech is a concise read and stands alone. The audiobook version is read by McCullough himself, which brings his eloquent writing to life.
