Local Author Talk: All in My Head: How a Hypochondriac Beat Brain Cancer by Marie Fricker Date: Monday, January 8th at 6:30 p.m. Location: Meeting Room Description: Scituate author Marie Fricker will discuss her book All in My Head: How a Hypochondriac Beat Brain Cancer, which has been featured in the Patriot Ledger, Boston Globe, and on WBZ radio’s Nightside Program with Dan Rea. Fricker was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor in October 2008, just two weeks after the birth of her first grandchild. When chemotherapy put her disease into remission, she was given only a 20 percent chance of surviving five years without a recurrence. Nine years later and disease-free, she is telling her story to offer comfort, hope and humor to others in similar situations. Even if you have never been touched by cancer, you will find All in My Head to be a riveting read about survival against the odds. The author's wry sense of humor is evident throughout and you will laugh and cry with her as she speaks from the heart about her unexpected "mid-life crisis." Registration required? No
