Play & Learn Together with PACE

All families are welcome to join this NEW Acushnet Play Group for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers and their parents, grandparents or caregivers! Come enjoy hands on activities: stories, songs, science, recognizing shapes and colors, and a whole lot more to keep the little ones engaged and entertained. This program is designed for all ages. Sponsored by the Coordinated Family and Community Engagement program of PACE Child Care Works, with funding from the MA Department of Early Education and Care; in collaboration with the Acushnet Public Library. Space is limited, registration is preferred. Registration forms are available at the Library and can be returned to PACE Child Works. You can also email mcarlsen@paceccw.org to register. Meet Your Farmer

We invite you and your family to meet your local farmers, beekeepers, cranberry growers and more at the 3rd annual Meet Your Farmer event! Learn what your local farm raises or grows, get growing tips, sample produce & learn how you can support your local farmer with a CSA. NEW this year: Touch a Tractor! A local farmer will provide a tractor on site for young visitors to check out. In addition, an Acushnet Public Health nurse and rep of Acushnet & Fairhaven Boards of Health will be on hand to share information and answer questions about ticks and tick borne illness.

Author Talk: Jane Healey Wednesday, 5/8, 6:30 PM Community Room Join us as we welcome local author Jane Healey. Her Washington Post Bestseller, Beantown Girls, chronicles the young women who staffed the Red Cross Clubmobiles in the later part of WWII. With much research Ms. Healey shares their stories as told through their numerous journals and diaries. Their bravery, compassion, strength and sense of humor in the face of constant danger was nothing short of extraordinary. This historical fiction novel is a wonderful account of the war from a female perspective. Books will be available for purchase and signing. Sponsored by the Friends of the Acushnet Public Library.

Author Talk: Stan Grayson Saturday, 5/18, 1 PM Community Room Meet local author Stan Grayson as he presents his book A Man for All Oceans: Captain Joshua Slocum and the First Solo Voyage Around the World. This is the most comprehensive biography ever published about Joshua Slocum, the first man to circumnavigate and the author of Sailing Alone Around the World. This book is based on new research and reveals previously unknown details about Slocum. Books will be available for purchase and signing. Sponsored by the Friends of the Acushnet Public Library.
