 DID YOU KNOW...
that you can place holds on upcoming movies and books via our catalog?

We often order books, movies, cds, etc before they are available in the stores. Once we purchase them, you can place a hold in our catalog. The catalog is available 24/7. Just simple go to messengerpl.org and click on CATALOG. The catalog includes every physical item the Library owns. You can easily find any item we own and place it on hold. You can also search the other SWAN member library catalogs which gives you access to even more items! The My Account section includes options to renew material, view items checked out on your card, and your holds.

For questions about using our catalog, please visit or call us at 630-896-0240.

Early Literacy Tip of the Month!
Read to your baby!

  • Let your baby hold and play with books. Cloth and board books are great for little hands

  • Use silly voices when you read, and soon your baby will begin to make silly sounds too. Encourage every coo, gurgle and growl.

  • Point at pictures and say the names of objects out loud. Your baby will listen and learn the importance of language.

  • Hold your baby on your lap while you read, and make eye contact.

  • Your baby loves your voice, your touch and your face.

  • Try these titles: Baby Faces by Roberta Grobel Intrater, El Libro Rojo –The Red Book by Alejandro Longo, Snap! Snap! Buzz Buzz by Rich Cowley
