Dear Readers, This month I have been sharing with the children from Dowds school sneak peaks about this year's Summer Reading theme--Libraries Rock! We have learned about Libba Cotten who turned adversity into earning a Grammy in her old age. We read about a girl who plays the drums on crocodile teeth, moms and dads who sing too much, and strategies for singing at a school program. The month ended with grandparent story times at preschools. It was a joy to see their faces light up as the children talked about their grandparents and the love they have for them. Ironically, I became a grandmother six years ago on a day I did story times at one of the preschools. I understand now the joy of having grandchildren. Keep Reading, Ms. Robyn Hello everyone! I hope you had a wonderful April-it flew by, mostly because we had so much fun! The tweens had a great time hammering away on their string art, we had an out-of-this-world time at story time, and we enjoyed a forest of poet-tree at our Arbor Day Celebration. Looking ahead to May, we'll be winding down all of our school-year programs to prep for Summer Reading. The first week of May will be our last week of story times. We'll put our hand prints on the ceiling and enjoy a snack. The tweens will be working with food while the builders enjoy one last night of creating. We'll be celebrating our best friends and favorite toys at our Toy Party on May 19. Lastly, we're happy to partner with The Shelby Foundation to welcome all of our area third graders to the library for tours, stories, snacks, and a free book. Happy Reading! ~Miss Jami
