Participation is easy, and you can participate as little or as much as you like by sharing, liking, and commenting on SML posts, using hashtags such as #SMLReads or #SMLAmbassador, or by sharing your own library story on social media. Thanks to the help of library patrons, SML was able to deliver 6,672 pounds of food to the Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana. The non-perishable food items were collected as part of the library's annual Food for Thought Amnesty Days Program. "We are always eager to help, especially at this time of year," stated John Tuggle, Executive Director of Shreve Memorial Library. The Food for Thought Amnesty Days Food Drive took place November 12 through December 12, 2018. During this time, patrons could bring in non-perishable food items to any of the 21 branches to relieve overdue fines. All items collected were donated to the Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana. The Food Bank serves as the primary resource for fighting hunger in Northwest Louisiana.
