SML's new mobile makerspace, the Make & Go, is bringing STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) learning to library branches throughout Caddo Parish this month, teaching children and teens about the binary computer language. A coding system using the binary digits "0" and "1," the binary code is used in computer programming to represent letters, digits or other characters in computers and electronic devices. The Make & Go will visit library branches August 6 through August 28 to teach children and teens how to use binary computer language to make beaded keychains. Click here for the complete schedule and to learn more about this fascinating outreach vehicle.

A Universe of Stories Summer Reading Recap This summer, we invited you to explore the mysteries of space and discover a Universe of Stories with our Summer Reading Program. We learned everything there was to know about the universe from Professor Universe, went on an intergalactic alien adventure with Sciencetellers, and survived a Zombie Asockalypse with Jasper Price. Along the way, we learned to paint the galaxy, build a rocket, and do a few magic tricks. Thank you to everyone who was a part of this year's Summer Reading Program. Preliminary numbers show that 2,668 children, 629 teens, and 628 adults participated in our galactic space adventure. Thank you again, and we can't wait to see what next summer has in store!
