Lego Robotics (Mannington) Monday, July 1: 5:30 pm Join us to experiment with using Lego robotics. Suitable for grades 2 and up, or for families to do together. We will be using Lego WeDo's! This is a great introductory lesson for those who have not done Lego Robotics before, but may be a repeat class for those who have.

Sewing (Fairmont) Join us to make a bookmark that has a pocket for a pen or pencil. Perfect for journals or taking notes while reading or studying. You may bring 1 fat quarter and some fabric will be provided. Remember that this project is small so large prints will not be visible on the finished bookmark. Experiment with coding using marble powered computers. Work at your own pace through multiple exercises and difficulty levels. Staff will have Ozobot Robots available in the Children's Room so that parents and children can experience some of the fun of STEM. Ozobots are most appropriate for children ages 4-12. Adult supervision is required at this Open House event.

"Where Were You When....?" Friday, July 19: 3 pm (All Ages) What were you doing when man first walked on the moon? Perhaps you weren't even alive on July 20, 1969? People of all ages are encouraged to participate in this interactive presentation with Dr. Ray Richardson of the Marion County Genealogical Club and others. Moon Landing Party Saturday, July 20: 12 pm (K-Adult) Kids and adults are invited to join us at our "Moon Landing Party" as we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first man on the moon. As well as celebrating past success, local NASA Engineer Scott Zemerick will also share present successes and future endeavors with interactive presentations on: "NASA’s Current Missions Exploring the Solar System’s Planets and Moons" and "STF-1: West Virginia’s First Spacecraft". Of course, there will be an anniversary cake and crafts and activities, too!

Lunar Lander Drop July 17: 3 pm (Grades 6-12) Use what you know and can investigate about gravity, motion, and forces to design and build a shock-absorbing system that will protect two "astronauts" when they land. All Materials will be provided.

Fly Me to the Moon “A Universe of Stories” may have come to an end, but space themed programming continues into July. To commemorate the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11’s moon landing on July 20, 1969, the Fairview Public Library will be presenting “Fly Me to the Moon” on Saturday, July 20 (9 am - 12 pm). This event, open to children ages 2 – up, requires no registration and lasts from 9 am to 12 pm. Participants will get to craft their own moon landing complete with American flag and small astronaut as well as check out the “Lunar Landscape Sensory Tub.”
