"The Board of Trustees would like to announce that Ms. Larissa Cason has been chosen as our new Library Director of the Marion County Public Library System. The Hiring Committee began its search for a new director in May, and consisted of three members from the Board of Trustees, a community representative, and a library representative.
The Committee was concerned that the current state of the nation would keep possible contenders from applying, but multiple candidates applied which made the hiring process more thorough. After multiple interviews with various candidates, Larissa was picked as the best person to lead the Marion County Public Library System on a path to a bigger and better future. She has been superb in managing the library in the interim since April, and the Board strongly believes that she will continue to be a powerful advocate and leader for the MCPLS. Plus, being an intimate part of our organization already will make this transition smooth and seamless." -Kerry Trahan, MCPLS General Manager/CFO
Larissa Cason earned a Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) degree from the University of Pittsburgh, and has been with the library system since 2016, where she started as the Circulation Manager.
