Sewing (Fairmont) Join us January 8th or 9th to make a soup bowl cozy to protect your hands this winter! Each attendee will need two Fat Quarters of 100% cotton material and two 10 inch square pieces of batting. Make sure the materials have no aluminum, glitter, metallic details, or pearl finish as those metals will not be microwave safe! We recommend cotton quilting fabric and standard blanket batting. All other supplies will be provided.

Lego WeDo (Fairmont) Milo the Science Rover Thursday, January 16: 4:30 pm Join us to experiment with using Lego robotics. Suitable for children in grades 3 through 8, or for families to do together. We will be using Lego WeDo's! This is a great introductory lesson for those who have not done Lego Robotics before, but may be a repeat class for those who have.

Beyond the Book Saturday, January 18: 10 am What's your idea of a great book club? When would it meet and what would you read and do? The name we selected for our new book club is "Beyond the Book". Our vision is that we do more than read books. We will also enjoy movies or other activities relating to the book we pick to read. Join us on January 18 for an open house starting at 10 am for cookies, coffee and conversation; as we collect ideas for books and more in 2020. If you cannot join us, please fill out our survey at the front desk starting January 18.

Best Laid Plans Join us for a night of murder and mayhem! This installment of our murder mystery dinner will take place on Friday, January 31 at 6 pm at the Elks Club in Fairmont. The price for this year’s event is $20 per person. Reserve your ticket online HERE while supplies last. Ticket pick up and payment begins Monday, January 6 at 9 am. Celebrations Around the World Saturday, January 11 2 pm – 3 pm It's celebration time! This year Story Hour and Toddler Time will kick off with a fun filled event for everyone! The event is open to all children, but geared mostly for 2-5 year olds. From Chinese New Year to Mardi Gras, have a great time finding out how different people celebrate for the new year!

Author Diana Johnson Saturday, January 18: 12 pm - 2 pm Cold Daughters is the debut book of local author Diane Johnson. Come learn the story behind this futuristic fiction as well other works that Johnson has planned. The author will also be sharing some tips on self-publishing, for those who might be interested, during her presentation at 1 pm.

Maple Tree Tapping and Sugaring Saturday, January 11 11 am – 12 pm The sugar maple is our state tree, so why not tap it! Come out and also learn from Keith Hubbard how to make maple syrup, a process known as sugaring. This demonstration will include waffles with pure maple syrup sampling, YUM! Space is limited and registration is required.

Wise & Wonderful Movie Matinees We are kicking off the new year with Wise and Wonderful cinema series. This month we are offering four Emmy nominated classic movies. Thursday, January 9 2:00 pm: His Girl Friday Thursday, January 16 2:00 pm: Murder on the Orient Express (1974) Thursday, January 23 2:00 pm: Alfie (1966) Thursday, January 30 2:00 pm: Paper Moon These movies are geared to our wonderful senior population, but anyone is welcome. Come enjoy a relaxing afternoon with free food, and some classic cinema! Registration is encouraged, but not necessary.

Homeschoolers welcome! We will have classes in art, language, math, and science. Registration is recommended. Weekly classes will begin February 24. K-4th grades will meet at 1:00 pm, 5th-8th grade will meet at 2:00 pm.

Baby Time NEW: Sign up now for our brand new Baby Time class that begins February 3 at 10:15 am. Miss Megan will present 30 minutes of songs, rhymes, stories and fingerplays for babies up to 18 months of age and their grownups.
