Through the library’s website, MCPLS patrons have access to FREE lifelong learning courses in over 30 subject areas, many of which offer continuing education units (CEUs). More than 500 courses are available, and all are designed and led by professional instructors to build deeper understanding and mastery of subject matter. Universal Class includes videos, assignments, quizzes, tests, and options for social media interaction with other learners. Patrons may take multiple classes and learn at their own pace. From technical courses on computer software to babysitting 101 to digital photography, a huge range of topics is available. Universal Class offers courses in Exercise and Fitness, Entrepreneurship, Arts and Music, Home and Garden Care, Cooking, Computers and Technology, Health and Medicine, Homeschooling, Job Assistance, Law and Legal, Parenting and Family, Pet and Animal Care, plus hundreds more. They'll be hitting the road in Marion County on Mondays through Thursdays, so be sure to find out when they'll be near you! Have OLYMPIC Size Fun at MCPL In celebrations of the winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea, the library will hold fun filled afternoon of Olympic delights on Saturday, February 24. Kids can make an Olympic torch craft, play unique Olympic type games and even paper plate ice skate! The activities will take place 2-3:30pm. Marvel Movie Matinee Avengers: Infinity War is coming out May 4, and we’re getting ready! Join us for a monthly series of Marvel movies that lead up to the newest movie! This month’s movie is Spider-Man: Homecoming (PG-13)! Join us Saturday, February 17 at 1 pm for popcorn and a good time! (Drinks not provided)

Adult Craft Class Our adult craft class will meet Monday, February 26 at 5 pm to create a Smashbook Art Journal. Bring any blank book of your choice, these can be found inexpensively at Walmart or the Dollar Stores. You can also bring acrylic paints, markers, colored pencils, etc. All other supplies will be provided. Call, stop by, or CLICK HERE to register!

Book It Book It will resume Tuesday, February 20 at 5 pm. This is an informational meeting to gauge interest for our club to continue, as well as pick out books for 2018. March Artible Artible will meet March 2 at 5 pm. This month's creation is Rainbow Rain. We will be using acrylic paints in all the colors of the rainbow, and small round brushes. Canvases will be provided. Class is limited to 15, so call, stop by, or CLICK HERE to register!

Blind Date with a Book Back this month: our annual favorite, Blind Date with a Book! It’s easy! 1) Choose a wrapped book of your favorite genre 2) Check it out (without unwrapping!) and take it home with you. 3) Unwrap and enjoy 4) Repeat as desired! We hope you’ll join in!

"Snow" It Begins... February is here! That means it’s time to get registered for the spring semester of children’s programming at the Fairview Library. Sign-ups for “Toddler Time” (ages 12 mos – 2 yrs) and “Story Hour” (ages 3 – 5 yrs) will begin at 9 am on February 12. Parents can register their children by calling the library or stopping by. Space is limited for each session, and registration will continue through March 9 or until classes are filled.

Kiddie Craft Table We are also featuring a “Kiddie Craft Table” in the children’s section February 1-14. Children who stop by the library can choose to craft a snowman mitten or decorate sticker scenes ranging from a cupcake to a farm landscape to a day in the life of a policeman.

Hogs 'n Kisses On February 27 at 3 pm, adult patrons are invited to join us for our “Hogs n Kisses” Adult Crafternoon. Each attendee will decorate a Mason jar to resemble a piggy that will hold 12 paper kisses, each containing a task to be completed by the end of the year. Space is limited for this program so registration is required.

What Do You Know About That? Trivia Trivia buffs can test their wits on February 22 from 9 am – 4 pm during our monthly contest, “What Do You Know about That? – Hearts and Flowers Edition.” Patrons ages 14-up are eligible to participate, and the patron with the most correct answers wins the prize!

Lovey Dovey The featured guessing game for February is “Lovey Dovey.” The patron who comes closest to guessing the number of Dove milk chocolates in the jar without going over wins!

Put Your Heart Into It In order to get more circulation from titles that need a little attention, our monthly entryway display is “Give a Little Love.” Come and browse selections by Amanda Coplin, Robert Crais, W.E.B. Griffin, and Philipp Meyer just to name a few, and show them a bit of TLC by checking them out.

Speaking of Books Our monthly book club, “Speaking of Books,” meets on February 27 to discuss Anna Quindlen’s Lots of Candles, Plenty of Cake.
