Join MCPLS in April, May, and June as we begin “Discovery Sessions” for new library technologies! We’ll be teaching hands on classes to introduce patrons to robotics, sewing, 3D printing, and more, as well as hosting informational sessions about how to use your device. These “Discovery Sessions” are paving the way for county wide “Maker Meetings,” coming in Fall of 2018. They'll be hitting the road in Marion County on Mondays through Thursdays, so be sure to find out when they'll be near you! 3D Printing Cutaway Earth Model: Tuesday, April 24, 5:30 pm This program is designed for elementary school aged children to learn about 3D printing and what a 3D printer can make. Sewing Embroidered Pot Holder: Saturday, April 28, 11 am Learn to sew using a sewing machine and learn to use an embroidery machine. National Library Week National Library week is April 8-14, but the library will be celebrating all month long with coloring sheets featuring your favorite children’s book characters. Stop by the children’s room and color, or take a coloring sheet home with you! There will be some special story book stuffed animal friends peeking around in the children’s room. Karen Ford Book Signing Fairmont resident Karen Ford will be doing a book signing and giving a brief presentation on her book, 31 Days to a Greater Understanding of Money on Saturday, April 7 from 10 am - 12 pm.

Hunting a Good Book Hunting Easter Eggs isn’t just for kids this April. Adult patrons are once again invited to participate in our “Hunting a Good Book” program. From April 2nd to April 27, participants will choose a wrapped book (each featuring a different colored Easter Egg sticker) from our current display. Each sticker corresponds to a matching plastic Easter Egg, and inside the egg is a small prize. At the end of the program, all entrants’ names will be placed in a drawing for a chance to win a $25 restaurant gift card.

Colors, Shapes, and More! April “Story Time” has more stories and activities for our toddlers and preschoolers. Raise a Glass There’s even more fun for adults on April 24 at 3 pm during our “Raise a Glass" Adult Crafternoon program. Toddler Time & Story Time Butterfly nurseries, hatching chicks, and planting a tortoise garden; Miss Janet and Miss Carol have big plans for Toddler Time and Story Time children this month. Stories, crafts, games, and interactive themes promise to be fun for all. Friends of the Library Campaign & Book Sale Friends membership campaign for 2018. Friends of the Mannington Public Library encourage library awareness, promote use of the library, and encourage reading and life-long learning. They promote library activities, enrich the programs of the library, and raise funds. Become a Friend, and with your annual membership enable the library to share with the community. Blackshere Pizza Parties They’ve been waiting for their chance to win! We’re celebrating Blackshere’s Kindergarten class the month of March. Every time a first grade student visits the library and checks out material in any format, we will add a designated pizza topping to our bulletin board. The Homeroom with the most toppings at the end of the month will win a pizza party.
