Teen Advisory Board is recruiting! More than half our team graduated last year and more are graduating this year, so we're looking for some dedicated members who can carry on the work. We're in the process of updating all of our stuff online, so if you don't know what TAB does, they're the teen volunteer team that plans our annual murder mystery, summer program, and represents us at City Council meetings and important community events. You don't need experience, but you do need to be able to attend meetings, come in for extra projects, and work well independently and with the rest of the team. To learn more about TAB, view our current webpage: http://pasadena-library.net/teens/teen-advisory-board/ Pictured above are: (top row) Haile, Taleen, Sophie (bottom row) Leon, Genevieve, Emilie, Caelie (not pictured) Liam, Noah, John, Cassie, Julia

Close to six million of these modern-day slave victims are children. Human trafficking brings in an estimated 150 billion dollars annually and is the fastest growing criminal enterprise on the planet.” These are the grim statistics that Timothy Ballard has worked to combat throughout his career, first as a special agent and now as CEO of Operation Underground Railroad (O.U.R), a nonprofit organization devoted to infiltrating child trafficking rings. Slave Stealers is, in part, the story of Ballard and O.U.R., which sprang from his promise to rescue a young Haitian boy from slavery. However, it is also the story of past abolitionists whose work Ballard strives to emulate, particularly Harriet Jacobs. ... [ READ THE FULL REVIEW ON THE TEENS BLOG]
