With Central shuttered, The Friends of the Pasadena Public Library will offer another segment of its great bookstore inventory for sale on Saturday, October 16 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Once again, you may fill a grocery bag for just $5, or make individual purchases at a table featuring premium books. Among the latter: titles donated to The Friends’ Bookstore by the Pacific Asia Museum prior to a recent renovation. The Friends will accept cash or checks only. As always, the proceeds help The Friends finance library programs throughout all branches.

Let’s #BlueUp (wear blue) together in October to stand in solidarity against bullying. The 7th annual I Matter-Girls Empowerment Conference, where girls with dreams become women with vision will take place On October 9, 2021. Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation presents a free event where girls ages 12-18 can join live and in-person from Loma Alta Park, Earvin “Magic” Johnson Park, and the Hacienda Heights Community Center. Participants will hear from powerful women innovators, educators, trailblazers and beyond! Girls will have an opportunity to connect with their peers and speakers to feel connected, inspired, and empowered. LA County Parks will host workshops, panels, and keynote speakers. In support of Pasadena Library's The Way to Well-Being initiative, our Teen Advisory Board will be launching a volunteer storytime training program. Ten teen volunteers will be selected to participate in 6-8 sessions (half virtual and half in-person) to learn the basic theory and process of presenting a children's storytime and craft session. Volunteers will work with library staff and approximately three other volunteers to plan and present two storytimes for families.
