KIDS

Read and Play Bilingual

Come for the bilingual storytime, and stay to practice reading a free book from your new storytime kit to your children.

Stay and Play (GV)
Thursdays, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM 
Join us at the Grass Valley Library for  time to play, learn, sing, read, and have fun together! Each session will feature a storytime, snacks, and an opportunity to learn together. Once a month a guest speaker will come to discuss educational topics and answer any questions you have.
 
No registration required. Ages 0-5.
Fostering Readers: It's Raining, It's Pouring (MH)
Wednesday, December 18, 3:30 PM
Explore books about the water cycle, learn cool facts, and make your own rainstorm in a cup!
 
Fostering Readers is a program for early readers who want to do a fun activity that happens to support reading skills. Come at 3 pm to read to a trained therapy dog first!
 
For kids in K-3rd Grade, all reading levels welcome!
PAWS to Read (PV) 
Tuesdays, 3:00 to 4:00 PM
Practice your reading with a trained therapy dog! We have books available, or you're welcome to bring your own. Emerging readers welcome as well!
No registration necessary.
PAWS to Read (MH)
Wednesdays, 3:00 to 4:00 PM
Read to a trained therapy dog! Prereaders, early readers, and independent readers are invited to read (or show pictures to) to our friendly and non-judgmental dogs. No registration necessary.
Ruff (TR)
Wednesdays, 4:00 to 5:00 PM
Read Up For Fun. Read a book out loud, to yourself, or tell a story to one of the therapy animals. Stay for fun crafts, plus track your visits and get a prize!
In partnership with the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe.
TEENS

DIY DAYS - Ornaments and Holiday Decor (GV)
Tuesday, December 10, 4:00 PM
Join us at the Grass Valley Library. We will be making our own holiday cheer and decor! No registration necessary. Ages 8 and up.
 
Novel Characters (TR)
Friday, December 27, 4:00 PM
Novel Characters is a book club for tweens and teens. Each month, we'll discuss books we've read based on a theme. The best part -- the themes are chosen by you! Ages 10-18.
 
Teen Lock-In: Come As You Are (MH)
Friday, December 13, 6:00 PM - 10:00 PM
Join us for a night where teens get to explore the depths of the library after hours with no parents to be seen. There shall be plenty of video games, food, crafts, and fun!

PBS star Huell Howser meets the descendants of the original Cornish Carol Choir of Grass Valley for a re-enactment of their 1940 concert in this episode.
