The library’s BIG Book Sale is nearly here!
 
The Aloha Community Library Association’s BIG Book Sale is back! We’ll fill our Community Room with thousands of books, DVDs, and music CDs for you to browse throughout all of the library’s regular open hours:
 
Tuesday, March 19: 10am-8pm
Wednesday, March 20: 10am-8pm
Thursday, March 21: 12pm-6pm
Friday, March 22: 12pm-6pm
Saturday, March 23: 10am-5pm
 
Books
All proceeds will enhance the library’s efforts to support lifelong learning and motivate community-building in Aloha. Thank you!
 
We need book sale volunteers!

Set up volunteers: Help organize the sale so our customers can discover gems while on their treasure hunt! Shifts available Thursday, March 14 – Monday, March 18.
 
Sale volunteers: Meet fellow bibliophiles and help them find their next great reads! Sale volunteers will greet customers, keep the sale tidy and tables filled, calculate purchase totals, and work at the cash register. At least three volunteers will be needed during each hour of the sale March 19 through March 23.
 
Clean up volunteers: Just like it sounds! Box leftover books, fold tables, and perform general sale clean up. Saturday, March 23 – Monday, March 25.

Enjoy a live step dancing performance by the talented young dancers of Murray School of Irish Dance! Move along with this lively demonstration of Irish culture, tradition, and music just in time to celebrate the St. Patrick’s Day holiday.
Creature Teachers

For all ages. All children must be accompanied by an adult (minimum 1 adult per 5 children).
 
Back by popular demand! Creature Teachers return this spring, bringing animals, knowledge and the chance to touch and get to know wildlife up close and personal. Meet a variety of exotic reptiles and creepy crawlies at the library while learning about the vital roles these creatures play in their ecosystems.

All children must be accompanied by an adult (minimum 1 adult per 5 children).
 
Looking for something to do during spring break? Visit the library for a free movie showing that’s great for all ages! Popcorn will be provided, but please feel free to bring your own treats to enjoy during the movie. Comfy clothes and extra blankets or pillows welcome!

Mondays from 10:30 to 11:00am
 
For ages 16 to 36 months.
 
Toddler Storytime takes place every Monday at 10:30 am! Join us for stories, songs, rhymes, dances, and activities aimed at children between the ages of 18 and 36 months. Adults are expected to sit with children and participate.

For ages 3 to 6 years.
 
An interactive storytime for children and their grown-ups filled with stories, songs, rhymes, and activities geared toward getting kids ready to read. Adults are expected to sit with children and participate.

For ages 0 to 6 years.
 
Let your little one’s creativity run wild with sensory arts and crafts every 1st Tuesday of the month. It’s okay to make a mess! All children must be accompanied by an adult (minimum 1 adult per 5 children).
Reading Buddies

Mondays, March 11th and 25th from 5:00 to 6:00pm
 
For ages 5 to 13 years.
 
Need practice reading? Sign up for a session of Reading Buddies at the Aloha Community Library! Kids can improve their reading skills and make a new friend by reading aloud to a trained therapy animal. Sessions are 15 minutes each between 5:00 and 6:00 pm.

Let's learn about engineering from the days of the ancient Greeks as we explore the mechanisms of catapults. Everyone will get to build their own device and measure its throwing power.

Join us for our monthly book club! March's selection is Moloka'i by Alan Brennert.
 
Rachel Kalama, a spirited seven-year-old Hawaiian girl, dreams of visiting far-off lands like her father, a merchant seaman. Then one day a rose-colored mark appears on her skin, and those dreams are stolen from her. Taken from her home and family, Rachel is sent to Kalaupapa, the quarantined leprosy settlement on the island of Moloka'i.
