The Aloha Community Library will be closed all day Monday, February 18th in observance of Presidents' Day.

Save the date for our next book sale! The Aloha Community Library Association’s BIG Book Sale returns Tuesday, March 19 – Saturday, March 23. We’ll fill our Community Room with books and movies for you to browse throughout all of the library’s regular open hours. All proceeds will support library operations. Stay tuned for more details next month, plus opportunities to volunteer to help!

Winter Reading There's still time! Children and teens are invited to participate in our first ever winter reading program! Game boards and reading bingo cards will continue to be available at the library through Saturday, February 9th. All finishing participants are invited to attend our Winter Wonderland party on Monday, February, 11th at 6-7:30pm, where you’ll get to pick out a free prize book and play a game of GIANT Candy Land!

Are you a caregiver interested in bringing a large group of children to the library? Unfortunately, due to staffing and space limitations, the library is not currently able to accommodate groups of 5 or more children at regularly scheduled programs without prior notice. Please contact the Youth Services Department at info@alohalibrary.org for more information and options for alternative programming.

Toddler Storytime Mondays at 10:30-11:00am (No Storytime February 18th) For ages 18 to 36 months. Toddler Storytime takes place every Monday at 10:30 am! Join us for stories, songs, rhymes, dances, and activities aimed at children between the ages of 18 and 36 months. Adults are expected to sit with children and participate.

Preschool Storytime Wednesdays at 10:30-11:00am For ages 3 to 6 years. An interactive storytime for children and their grown-ups filled with stories, songs, rhymes, and activities geared toward getting kids ready to read. Adults are expected to sit with children and participate.

Tiempo de cuentos español (Spanish Storytime) Sáb 2 y 23 de feb a las 10:30-11:30am Saturdays February 2nd and 23rd from 10:30 to 11:30am Para niños de 0 a 6 años (ages 0 to 6 years) Ven a compartir con nosotros de una hora de cuentos, canciones, manualidades y mucha iversión! Escuchando cuentos, los niños desarrollan lenguaje y vocabulario. La lectura fomenta la imaginación y la creatividad en niños y adultos. Todos los niños deben estar acompañados de un adulto. Come and share with us one hour of stories, songs, crafts and lots of fun! Listening to stories, children develop language and vocabulary. Reading fosters imagination and creativity in children and adults. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Messy Arts & Crafts Tuesday, February 5th from 10:30 to 11:30am For ages 0 to 6 years. Let your little one’s creativity run wild with sensory arts and crafts every 1st Tuesday of the month. It’s okay to make a mess! All children must be accompanied by an adult (minimum 1 adult per 5 children).

Nature Mobile Wednesday, February 6th from 2:30 to 4:00pm For all ages.
Drop in to learn about local flora and fauna from the knowledgeable nature experts of Tualatin Hills Park and Recreation District. All ages welcome! All children must be accompanied by an adult (minimum 1 adult per 5 children).

Reading Buddies Mondays, February 11th and 25th from 5:00 to 6:00pm For ages 5 to 13 years. Need practice reading? Sign up for a session of Reading Buddies at the Aloha Community Library! Kids can improve their reading skills and make a new friend by reading aloud to a trained therapy animal. Sessions are 15 minutes each between 5:00 and 6:00 pm. STEM Lab: Circuit Valentines Wednesday, February 13th from 2:30 to 4:00pm For children ages 5 to 13, with accompanying adults for kids younger than 9. Let’s make a Valentine for someone special in your life! We’ll explore circuits and electricity while making a special card to give to a loved one for Valentine’s Day. All children must be accompanied by an adult (minimum 1 adult per 5 children).

South African Dance with Michael Moloi Tuesday, February 26, 6:30-7:30pm For all ages. Learn about the cultural dance traditions of Gumboot and pantsula with an interactive demonstration from South African native Michael Moloi! Bring your Gumboots (rain boots) and dance along with this lively and informative performance. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

LEGO Free Play Wednesday, February 27th from 2:30 to 4:00pm For children ages 5 to 13, with accompanying adults for kids younger than 9. Come explore your creativity with LEGOs every 4th Wednesday of the month! Spend the afternoon creating masterpieces out of the legendary colorful building blocks. We’ll provide the LEGOs; you provide imagination! All children must be accompanied by an adult (minimum 1 adult per 5 children).

Tech Assistant Sessions Mondays & Wednesdays from 6:00 to 8:00pm Tuesdays from 4:00 to 6:00pm Need assistance with basic computer skills? We can help! Drop in during a regularly scheduled tech assistant session or call to reserve a longer appointment (limit 1 hour per person).

Sit n Stitch Thursdays, February 7 & 21 from 1:30 to 3:00pm Mondays, February 11 & 25 from 6:00 to 7:30pm Bring your knitting, crochet, or other yarn project, and come join the Sit n Stitch group! Trade tips or simply enjoy the company of fellow crafters while you work on your latest creation.

Crafternoons – Greeting Cards Tuesday, February 12th from 3:30 to 5:00pm When you give someone a handmade greeting card, it shows just how much you care about them. Create your own special Valentine’s Day card at this Crafternoon! All materials provided. Ages 11+ welcome. Spaces are limited; please call or visit the library to register.

Writers Group Saturday, February 16th from 12:30 to 3:00pm Drop in for a quiet place away from home to hit your word count goal, or to socialize with other local writers. You bring the talent and we'll provide the tea, snacks, and quiet – not to mention a whole building full of research material and inspiration!

Book Club Monday, February 25th at 6:30pm Please note that this month's meeting will be held on the 4th Monday of the month due to Presidents' Day. Narrates the struggles of the overmatched rangers against the implacable fire of August, 1910, and Teddy Roosevelt's pioneering conservation efforts that helped turn public opinion permanently in favor of the forests, though it changed the mission of the forest service with consequences felt in the fires of today.
