All Ages: READ WOKE Challenge January & February 2021 The Read Woke Challenge was originally created by Cicely Lewis, a school librarian in Georgia. It encourages community members to read "woke books" and engage in thoughtful dialogue surrounding the themes and topics addressed in the books. So what are woke books? They are books that focus on protagonists from underrepresented groups or challenge the status quo/social norms. In addition to celebrating diverse works, the Library will also host author talks, book discussions, and more during the Challenge. Details will be announced late December.
