Data on Springfield, MA
United States Census Bureau - American Community Survey
The American Community Survey (ACS) is an ongoing survey that provides vital information on a yearly basis about our nation and its people. Information from the survey generates data about jobs and occupations, educational attainment, veterans, whether people own or rent their homes, and other topics.

A useful tool based on the American Community Survey are the Narrative Profiles. These are short, analytic reports derived from the ACS 5-year estimates. Each Narrative Profile covers 15 different topic areas and provides text and bar charts to display highlights of selected social, economic, housing and demographic estimates for a selected geographic area.

Real impact : the new economics of social change
by Morgan Simon

Simon, who specializes in impact investment and connects it to social justice, explains how to change the practice of impact investment to solve problems in the long term and create transformative social change. She describes her experiences as an activist in social justice; impact investment as a tool for creating a more generative and just world, as well as the field’s historical background and definitions; why impact investment often fails to maximize its potential; a new model for impact investment, with principles to foster its potential to create wealth and produce systemic economic, political, and social change by engaging communities in design, governance, and ownership, adding more value than is extracted, and fairly balancing risk and return between investors, entrepreneurs, and communities; stories of specific projects and how the principles work in practice; and what those who don’t work in the investment field can do.
