Summer Adventures are Short & Sweet! 2019 Adult Summer Reading Program, June 1–July 31 Adults who read ten 100-page books win a swag bag of goodies while supplies last. Enter your completed signup sheet by July 31st to any County of SLO Library branch for a grand prize drawing. Grand prizes include a bi-plane ride with Banner Airways in Pismo Beach, a zip line tour with Margarita Adventures in Santa Margarita, or a Staycation gift basket with local entertainment options. Winners of a grand prize will be notified in early August.

It is all about coming together to create, explore, learn, and celebrate our SLO community at the Library. Short & Sweet Summer Reading and all Library events are free and open to the public.

Yoga for Every Body & Mind

These hour-long classes incorporate yoga postures, mindfulness, and basic meditation. All levels welcome and beginners are encouraged. No experience or equipment required. Participants are encouraged to bring a yoga mat and props, if available. Classes are geared towards adult; ages 12 years old and older welcome. Bring a friend, make a friend! Children and teens participate by reading for 5 days (20 minutes a day) or reading 5 books to earn a “Library 100th Anniversary” bag full of goodies. Take the challenge and read 5 more books to earn a free book to keep, provided by the Foundation for SLO Public Libraries. Free events will be happening every day at one of your County of SLO Libraries.

Natural Dyeing Workshop

Natural dyeing is the process of using plant material instead of synthetic chemical dyes to dye clothing. In this workshop you will learn a little about the science of natural dyes and then experiment with dyeing a silk scarf using Japanese Shibori techniques to create interesting patterns. Ages 13 and up. Registration required.
